CONFIDENCE COACHING FOR CHILDREN AGED 6+

Helping children and young people work with their shyness, build courage and resilience, and be more confident and comfortable with who they are.

Are you worried your kid is too shy?

That they’re missing out on fun because they’re too shy to join in?

That they’re missing out on opportunities because they’re too shy to speak up?

A quick Google on the word ‘shyness’ reveals a pretty miserable outlook on their future career and mental health, plus the occasional implication that it’s all down to parenting (not at all helpful).

Is there a cure? How do we fix it?

Are they doomed to a life of unhappiness and frustration?

OK – let’s take a breath and all calm down a bit.

Hi, I’m Nadia – and I’m a shy kid who became a shy and mighty adult.

I help shy people to step out of the shadows so that they can lead happier and more fulfilled lives.

I am a shyness expert (and you can imagine what courage it took for me, as a shy person, to claim that title).

I’ve published three books about shyness, I’ve been interviewed on Radio 4 and on the ITV news about the impact of shyness, and featured in the Guardian as well as many other publications.

Nadia Finer Shycology

I specialise in helping children step out of the shadows and into a bigger life.  My one-on-one coaching sessions provide kids with the support and tools they need to feel comfortable in themselves, speak up, and approach new situations with positivity.

Shy and mighty coaching is designed for children age 6 and up who may struggle with shyness, self-doubt, and self esteem issues. I help them grow, step by step, into more confident and self-assured young people who are more able to speak-up, more able to join-in, and more comfortable being themselves.

When asked how working with me has helped them, 100% of kids said I helped them to:

“feel more confident”

“try new things”

“put their hand up in class.

“become braver”

Here’s how it works…

Age range  6 +

Each child is unique, so sessions are tailored to your child’s individual needs and personality.

Coaching by Nadia Finer, a qualified coach and shyness expert.

Session Length: 30-45 minutes, depending on your child’s needs and attention span

Frequency: Weekly sessions work best, at least in the first few weeks, to ensure steady progress

Location – coaching takes place online via Zoom or in school

Confidence coaching will help your kid …

Feel happier and more confident
Become more resilient and better able to handle difficult situations

Learn practical techniques like positive self-talk, handling social situations, and building friendships.

Become braver and more inclined to embrace uncertainty and new situations
Stop comparing themselves to others and finally feel comfortable being themselves

Feel comfortable speaking up in class and sharing their ideas and opinions

Improve their social skills and find it easier to socialise and make friends through role-playing, storytelling, and games, your child will practice skills they can use at school, on the playground, and beyond.

Say yes to opportunities and take part in activities

Feel understood and supported

I understand that trying something new can feel daunting for both kids and parents. That’s why I suggest an initial introductory session, so you and your child can meet me, ask questions, and see if we are a good fit.

“We are loving working with Nadia. One child, who was a selective mute is now, after 6 years, finally talking in school! It’s a massive breakthrough but I know that Nadia has helped with this as it gives her a safe space and a little more spring in her step each week.”

“In all honesty I’m still struggling to come up with the words to express a) how impressed we’ve been with everything, b) convey the elation and excitement from seeing our daughter come so far, c) articulate my sincerest, heart felt gratitude! I’m genuinely struggling to find a way to do all these any justice, but I am hoping you can grasp what I’m trying to say.”

“We first came across Nadia when she presented a webinar for our school parents and carers on the work she does to help empower shy and unheard people. My husband and I were struck by the story she told on how her work came about and could both identify with what she was saying, even though we are quite different people. We both agreed that she would be able to help our daughter who has spent much of primary and secondary school ‘flying under the radar’; seemingly pushed to one side whilst louder, more gregarious types made themselves known in lessons, on stage, during different school opportunities. It’s always been a source of annoyance that the shyer ones just don’t get that chance.

Our daughter had a series of 1:1 sessions with Nadia and was helped by her to understand that she doesn’t need to change but can do some things to help make herself heard. It was a very empowering way of allowing her to blossom by setting small achievable goals and encouraging her to push herself that tiny bit. She helped her with specific things that were happening in her world at that moment in time (eg how to get involved in a school play) but also set goals where those skills could be transferred for other scenarios after the sessions finished. Her kind gentle way with our daughter really helped her to understand her worth and what she can give to the world, not just within the confines of school.
I would highly recommend having some sessions with Nadia to help you or your child realise their potential and worth.”

“As a Year 6 teacher, I wanted a way to help the children find their voice and inner quiet confidence before they moved to secondary school. After only a few weeks of sessions, I noticed a huge difference in their confidence to use their voice when they wanted to. As we worked through the sessions, they developed a sense of knowing that shyness is not a weakness, but a gift that gives them qualities that others may not have. One of the children summed this up perfectly; “Though she be but little, she is fierce!”
